Scarecrow Competition

Scarecrows to be displayed by :
Sunday 13th October 2024

Judging: Sunday 3rd November 2024

Winners will be notified via email and/or phone. Winners will be announced via social media & photos published in the December 2024 edition of the Galston Community News.

Unregistered scarecrows will NOT be included in the judging.  

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

All risk of any scarecrow exhibit entered into this competition remains with the participant at all times.  No liability will be accepted by AGRA.  By submitting the entry form the participant accepts all Conditions of Entry.

One (1) entry only per 2159 property address. 
Multiple scarecrows may be exhibited at property address.

Scarecrows MUST be:

  • displayed on the property/inside the front fence/on the apartment balcony & easily seen from the street/road/gate (the Judge will NOT enter the property!)
  • at least 1m high, self-supporting, have a strong support base & be able to withstand the prevailing weather conditions
  • in good taste & not reflect controversial/social situation or political/religious views  nor represent any concept which may cause offence to any person(s) or group. 

Please do NOT USE use perishable goods (i.e. fruit/vegetables or meat, etc.) to avoid infestations of vermin, fruit fly, blowfly, etc.

AGRA reserves the right to refuse entries.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. All the Conditions of Entry form part of the Terms & Conditions for entering the Scarecrow competition.
  2. By submitting the Registration Form, the participant agrees with all these Terms & Conditions.
  3. AGRA has the right to reproduce images of the scarecrows entered in the competition for the purposes of publicity, social media, advertising or other non-commercial use.
  4. Participants agree that their Scarecrows will not affect the environment in any lasting way.

An address list of Scarecrow Competition exhibits will be available via AGRA’s website & Facebook page.  No householder/resident names will be published / publicly available.

Prizes are AGRA funded vouchers redeemable for goods & services at any postcode 2159 business.

3rd        $150

Highly Commended:  $100

Vouchers are NOT transferable to another person.  Vouchers can NOT be redeemed for cash. Any element of a prize voucher that is unused will be forfeited.

The Judge’s decision is final.  No correspondence/discussion shall be entered into about the winners or individual entries.

Aspects such as artistic merit, originality, workmanship & attention to detail will be considered when judging the scarecrow exhibit.  Bonus points awarded for use of recycled, repurposed, upcycled materials.

Winners will be announced via social media & photos published in the December 2024 edition of the Galston Community News.

    Chris Russell AM adores his role as ’Crow Judge. He diligently appraises each exhibit for artistic merit, originality, workmanship, attention to detail & humour. He has signed up to do it all again at AGRA’s 2023 Festival of The ScareCrow. (Dates to be advised.)
